Attorney-General for the State of Queensland v Watt [2024] QSC 208

In the legal case Attorney-General for the State of Queensland v Watt [2024] QSC 208, the Supreme Court of Queensland was tasked with determining the conditions under which Rowland Arnold Watt, deemed a serious danger to the community under the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003 (Qld), should be managed. Initially, Watt was subject to a supervision order that he breached twice. Subsequently, he was detained under a continuing detention order. However, following his commencement of anti-libidinal treatment and improved engagement with therapeutic interventions, both the Attorney-General and Watt's counsel agreed that he could be safely released under strict supervision. The Court, considering psychiatric evaluations and the need for community protection, ordered Watt's release subject to a 10-year supervision order.
