DF v Director of Child Protection Litigation [2024] QChC 5

In DF v Director of Child Protection Litigation [2024] QChC 5, DF, the mother of the child KF, appealed against a child protection order made by the Childrens Court at Southport on 30 September 2022. The decision granted long-term guardianship of KF to the Chief Executive due to concerns about DF's parenting ability, mental and physical health, and home environment. Despite DF's claims of inadequate legal representation, false information in reports, and harm to KF while in care, the appellate court found no legal, factual, or discretionary error in the Childrens Court's decision. The appeal was dismissed, affirming the original order, as the court upheld that the safety, wellbeing, and best interests of KF were paramount.
