In the matter of an application for bail by Tara Brandsden-Bayliss [2024] QSC 242

The applicant sought bail while facing charges including stealing, possession of tainted property, driving with a disqualified license, and other offenses. The case was heard in the Supreme Court of Queensland, where Justice Muir presided. Despite Brandsden-Bayliss's history of breaching bail conditions and committing offenses while on bail, the court considered her youth, her first-time remand experience, support from the MARA Project, and employment arrangement as mitigating factors. Justice Muir concluded that strict bail conditions targeting her drug abuse issues could mitigate the risk of further offenses. Consequently, the court granted bail under a detailed set of conditions to ensure compliance and rehabilitation.
