R v LZY & Porter [2024] QSC 237 involved two defendants charged with violent crimes. LZY and Tye Wayne Porter orchestrated a robbery resulting in the murder of an Uber driver, Scott Andrew Cabrie, in February 2023. LZY, a juvenile at the time, was sentenced to 15 years of detention for murder, with other sentences for armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and arson, to be served concurrently. LZY will be eligible for release after serving 60% of the term. Tye Wayne Porter, as an adult, was sentenced to 9½ years for manslaughter, with additional sentences for robbery, vehicle use, and arson, all concurrent and eligible for parole after serving 6½ years.
