R v TZY [2024] QSC 238

R v TZY [2024] QSC 238 dealt with issues surrounding the legality of a warrantless search by police, which uncovered TZY's possession of dangerous drugs and evidence of drug trafficking. During the search, conducted without a warrant, police found drugs and items connected to drug trafficking on TZY, and further analysis of his seized mobile phone revealed more incriminating evidence. An element of the case involved the improper use of body-worn cameras by police during the search, but it was ruled that the search was lawful as the officer had reasonable suspicion, and the failure to activate the camera earlier did not warrant exclusion of the evidence.
