Storry v Commissioner of Police [2024] QCA 209

In the legal case Storry v Commissioner of Police [2024] QCA 209, the Supreme Court of Queensland evaluated Venetia Louise Storry's application for an extension of time to file a third application for leave to appeal against a 2017 District Court decision, which dismissed her appeal from a Magistrates Court conviction. The court refused the extension, citing finality in litigation and the lack of a viable appeal ground. The applicant's prior appeals had been denied due to insufficient evidence of factual error on the part of the District Court and failure to demonstrate prosecutorial misconduct. The Court noted her repeated inability to provide compelling reasons for the delay and concluded that the interests of justice would not be served by granting more time for another appeal attempt.
